Good news for Welsh businesses. This was officially launched this week and about time too...
1. The grant is aimed at new or existing businesses that are located in, or planning to locate in, the areas of Neath Port Talbot, Swansea, Carmarthenshire, Pembrokeshire or Ceredigion.
2. The support is aimed at Small and medium sized enterprises (employing less than 250 people) with either a turnover not exceeding €50 million or a balance sheet not exceeding €43 million.
3. Businesses will need to comply with the European Commission eligible sectors for Convergence funding. Support is aimed primarily at businesses in or servicing the manufacturing sector, though applications will be considered on a case by case basis. The following sectors are ineligible for support: - agriculture, forestry and fishing, insurance companies, social welfare facilities. Funding maybe available for retail development and direct consumer services in discretionary cases where the applicant can demonstrate a niche market and no issue of displacement.
4. The grant is based on up to 40% of approved project costs up to a maximum of £5,000 grant. The minimum grant will be £1,000.
